Police

Let’s face it, our police are pretty rubbish. They are supposed to be public servants. They are there to uphold the law and keep the peace. The simple fact is that unless you drive a car you will never come into contact with England’s finest. It doesn’t take much to be convicted of a motoring offence. If a cop says you committed an offence that’s it. His word is better than yours in court. The burden of proof is on you, not him. You are not entitled to any form of legal aid or a free consultation with a solicitor. The odds are so heavily stacked in their favour that unless you are a millionaire you have no chance whatsoever.

If on the other hand you are a burglar and whilst committing a crime happen to fall onto the bonnet of a police car (and that is the only way you are ever going to get caught) you will be entitled to the full legal services, free of charge. That is why so many people get off. They get off because of the ineptitude of our police force.

If you report a crime such as vandalism, mugging or burglary the police won’t respond. If on the other hand you commit a motoring offence they will turn up in five very expensive cars and a helicopter. How many times have you watched “Police camera action” on TV and seen them chasing a burglar or rapist? Never, is the short answer.

It’s about time our police got off their fat arses and solved a real crime. That is the only way they are going to win the hearts and minds of the public. When they do claim to have solved a crime it’s never actually them who solved it. People are in prison because they either confessed or because of hard working forensic scientists. Not because the police are good at their job, because they are not. We will never solve the problems of crime unless we solve the problems of the police. A major shake-up is needed. Police have to be retrained to the point where they realise that doing 35 MPH in a built-up area is slightly less important than rape.

Basically, the police should spend less on high powered BMW’s and more on training. You never know, one day they may actually solve a real crime. In the meantime, lock your doors and stay safe
